Job Summary:

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for a Medical Assistant to add to their team. This is a primarily clerical MA role with the majority of the work being registration related.

The Medical Assistant performs accommodative services for assigned clinic patients directed by the Clinic Director and/or Chief Nursing Officer in order to facilitate the delivery of prompt, quality care within the Mental Health department.


Job Roles
-
Travels to locations as necessary; integrates to workflow and helps support clinic productivity.

  • Attends inservices or completes makeup assignments.
  • Keeps sites in compliance with TJC, DHS, CHDP, and Medi-Cal Managed Care Requirements.
  • Performs Waive Testing and Phlebotomy.
  • Consistently follows FHCSD Policies and Procedures to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment.
  • Prepares patients for examinations and procedures and assists providers as needed.
  • May support provider productivity. Assists with managing clinic flow, scheduling patient followup appointments, and communicating referral information, and discharge instructions.
  • Records patient information in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • May be responsible for administering medications, including injections.
  • May be responsible for cleaning, processing, and sterilizing medical instruments.
  • Collects and handles laboratory specimens appropriately.
  • Follows 5S and continuous quality improvement methods in the workplace
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A Medical Assistant diploma from an approved course is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training required.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS:

Age 21; Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving with 7 years.
