Position Description
Under general supervision, the HIMS Clerk performs specialized and detailed clerical work utilizing computer and peripheral equipment that is part of one or more of the following systems: Chart Tracking, Record Completion, or Document Imaging.
The HIMS Clerk also performs a variety of record keeping functions such as filing loose sheets, reactivating microfilmed records, and preparing new or repairing old medical record folders.
Position RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED. Basic computer skills required.
Preferred Requirements
Vocational or technical training or degree: Health Information Technology or related. 1 years or more of experience in medical/hospital office and/or medical records. Experience with medical records and medical terminology.
One year of education (business and/or office systems curriculum) beyond high school or 6 months (medical and/or hospital) office experience.
