About the job

The Board of Directors for the Trillium Drop-In Center (TDIC) is seeking an Executive Director for this peer-run mental health services organization located in Woodbridge, Virginia, Prince William County.

Trillium Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide a stress-free atmosphere for adults (18 and over) who are mental health services consumers.

The TDIC was founded in 2007 by Ann Gurtler, Traci Jones, and Cynthia Dudley Lester as an effort to expand an existing mental health services consumer support group.

Trillium grew and has been widely recognized for its work in the mental health community and has served as a model for peer-to-peer support services.

Trillium is now seeking a seasoned, energetic, and empathetic leader who will work closely with its Board of Directors and consumers to continue Trilliums legacy and realize its mission.



Representative Key Executive Director Responsibilities:

Leadership in:


Developing an organizational vision and strategic plan to drive TDIC key activities through board partnership, community representation, and providing professional guidance in all aspects of peer-to-peer support services.

Operations planning and management including oversight of day-to-day activities, meeting the objectives of clients, financial supporters, consumers, key partners, and TDICs Board of Directors.

Program planning including establishing, implementing, overseeing, evaluating, and sustaining programs and services that meet the needs of TDIC.

Human resources including developing policy and procedures, manager staffing, maintaining a positive working environment, training, implementing performance management, and coaching for success.

Financial planning and management activities including budgeting, funding, proposal writing, research, contract and grant submissions and all related activities.

Will also participate in fundraising activities, provide oversight of book-keeping and accounting procedures, cash flow, and ensures all compliance requirements are met.

Community advocacy and outreach including establishing good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve TDICs goals.

Required Qualifications and Experience
3-5+ years experience operating an Internal Revenue Service Section 503(c) non-profit organization
Personal lived mental health experience;
Certified in the State of Virginia as a Peer Recovery Specialist or in the professional provision of mental health therapy or counseling services;
Five or more years of progressive management experience;

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel (or similar electronic spreadsheet program), PowerPoint, and Canva (or similar creative program); and proficient in the use of the internet to include research, electronic mail (Email), and social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube).

Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of TDIC;

Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization;

Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information and activities;

Plan:
Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create, and implement actions plans, and evaluate the process and results;

Solve Problems:
Assess problem situations to identify cause, gather relevant information, generate solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem;

Think Strategically:
Assess options and actions based on environmental trends and conditions, and the vision and values of TDIC.

Working Conditions
Executive Directors usually work a standard 40-hour workweek in an office environment. The mission of the organization may require activities in nonstandard workplaces and periodically require working during evenings and weekends.
