Director of Occupational Health and Safety
Location: Winston-Salem, NC

The Director of Occupational Health and Safety plays a crucial role in developing, organizing, implementing, and continuously improving programs to ensure compliance with regulations governing these activities. This position requires strong knowledge and experience in industry standards and codes related to occupational health and safety.



Education/Experience/Training:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Safety Management/Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Health Physics, Public Health, or a related discipline.


Preferred: Master's degree.


Minimum of 10 years of experience in Safety Management or a related field, with at least 3 years specifically in occupational health. Ideal candidates will have 5 years of experience in healthcare management.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist, or other relevant professional certification and/or a Master's Degree.
Essential Functions:
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the Corporate Safety Occupational Health and Safety Division staff.
  • Assess and identify resources necessary to support program objectives.
  • Coordinate Occupational Health and Safety staff activities to align with organization-wide Corporate Safety initiatives.
  • Ensure programs are implemented to support safety objectives and key performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Implement hazard analysis, risk mitigation assessments, and loss control strategies.
  • Integrate program reports into Safety and Environment of Care Committees.
  • Develop hazard management and investigatory processes.
  • Implement training programs to reduce employee injury risks and ensure compliance.
  • Participate in program evaluations and develop performance metrics.
  • Collaborate internally and externally to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Communicate with leaders, managers, stakeholders on program initiatives.
  • Perform assigned work-related duties.
