Overview:


The Tank (Erection) Foreman is responsible for supervising a crew that field erects, fits, welds, grinds, and inspects new steel storage tanks, vessels, and structures and that makes repairs to existing steel storage tanks, vessels, and structures.


Responsibilities:
Pass pre-employment drug & alcohol screen.

Willing and able to travel for work in forty-eight contiguous states. Has reliable transportation.

Assists Superintendent with Scheduling, coordinating, and supervising activities for a crew at one work location.

Assists in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required.

Assists in development of look ahead scheduling and progress reporting.

Supervises and evaluates crew to ensure compliance with project directives.

Ensure crew perform work in compliance with drawings, specifications, and procedures.

Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Perform all work in accordance with approved for construction drawings and procedures furnished by the PMT.

Ensure all Company processes, policies, and procedures and followed onsite.

Ensure maintenance and upkeep of equipment at site.

Train, coach, and mentor crew members in layout, rigging, fitting, and equipment operation.

Work with precise limits or standards of accuracy.

Unload fabricated steel products and tools from trucks.

Operated electric and pneumatic power tools such as grinders, wire brushes, and chipping guns. Perform basic and preventatitve maintenance functions on power equipment.

Use hand tools such as shovels, brooms, scrapers, hand brushes, files etc.

Hook-on or move material around the field site by hand or with the assistance of a forklift or crane.

Align, fit, and tack steel shapes together utilizing temporary erection gear, fit up (pry) bars, and sledgehammers.

Erect and dismantle temporary scaffolding used in steel plate construction.

Set up, break down, and rig lifting equipment such as mobile cranes and fixed derricks.

Set-up and use oxy-fuel or plasma burning equipment to cut or trim plate and structural steel.


Perform welding operations to join the steel parts together in accordance with approved for construction welding procedures using SMAW, FCAW, SAW, and other processes.


Inspect, set up, use, break down, and rig equipment such as aerial work platforms (spider buggies), elevated work platforms, and staging.

Lay out and install tank accessories according to drawings and procedures.

Read, understand, and communicate tasks to be completed based on engineering drawings.

Ensure all cargo are secured properly and communicated with drivers.

Responsible for site management of consumables and materials.

Experience climbing & working on elevated surfaces.

Sedentary Work:

Powered hand tools including grinders, chipping and peening guns, wire brushes, saws, ladder, scaffold and impact wrenches

Hardhat, safety goggles/glasses with side shields Z87 stamped, full body harness with double lanyard, hearing protection, respiratory protection, gloves, respirator, fresh air equipment, and safety toe shoes required ANSI 41.

Qualifications:
Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience with 3+ years in a supervisor/superintendent role.

Weld Qualification/Certification in muliple processes (FCAW, SMAW, SAW, etc.)

English is required.

SIPP Training.

NCCCO Certified Equipment Operator.

CB&I Mobile Crane Safety Training.

Skills and Behaviors:
Ability to perform construction activites by hand or with the assistance of normal steel construction equipment.

Able to visually inspect work activities.

Ability to use the tools and equipment listed.

Planning Skills:
Plans work, crew, and TES for the day ahead of time by days/weeks.

Follow Schedule and progress, work-hours budgets, as planned.

Tank Builders scaffold - erection and use

Weld seam grinding.

Manlift / Scissor / Gondola / Spider Buggy Lift use, operation, and maintenance.

Specialized Tank Activities - Air Raise / Hydrotest / Seal / Pneumatic Testing, etc.

QC Processes - ITPs, Specifications, Notifications, etc.

Construction Manuals and Sequences.

Cranes (grove/Terex, Liebherr, etc.) and their accessories for safe lifting.

How to do basic load calculations.

How to inspect lifting & safety tools / equipment's.

Operational & basic maintenance of all welding equipment.
