Position Summary:

The Utility Foreman primary function is to provide oversight of to field operations and field employees.

The position is to ensure that all resources of the Company are managed, and coordinated in an efficient, professional manner, so that work is performed within the budget and on or ahead of schedule.


Responsibilities:

  • Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents and nearmisses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value
  • Safety first, in everything we do.
  • Manage and coordinate all field construction operations in conjunction with TMC's General Superintendent for the utility division
  • Plan and organize key field positions to accommodate the specific project requirements
  • Monitor project objectives, company policies, procedures and performance standards of all field personnel
  • Monitor material and supply procurement/management and distribution of equipment
  • Monitor the distribution of all labor resource and maintain tool inventory
  • Understand and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures. Know where all utilities within the work zone are located. Be responsible for your own safety as well as those working in the area
  • Assist with hiring, termination and recommendations for promotion of all utility personnel
  • Maintain professional relationships with Vendors/Subcontractors for the purpose of the successful completion of our projects
  • Monitor and review time sheets and daily reports in Heavy Job
  • Assist in developing training programs for the improvement of all field personnel
  • Assist in negotiating with vendors for purchasing of small equipment, material and supplies
  • Coordinate with the General Superintendent company and/or rental equipment for efficient utilization
  • Develop in conjunction with the General Superintendent and implement a standard project setup procedure and all other services necessary for project support
  • Develop a tool/equipment inventory procedure
  • Assist Superintendents in project related issues as needed
  • Monitor all project construction through the Project Management Team in collaboration with the project Site Superintendent to ensure that the project is built ahead of schedule and within budget
  • Represent the company at project related meetings as requested
  • Monitor Superintendent relations with Clients and Engineer contacts to facilitate construction activities
  • Assist Project Managers/Estimators in the review of estimates as requested
  • Assist Project Mangers with Client and/or Subcontractor relationships as required
  • Develop relationships with equipment rental and material vendors for discounts
  • Monitor project closeout, asbuilts and expedite punch list items to ensure prompt final payments
  • Company liaison to corporate insurance agent to ensure proper OSHA reports and records are maintained

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience implementing and overseeing utility construction projects
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of field utility construction oversight
