Position Overview and Responsibilities:


The Data Architect is a key player in shaping the strategic plan for data processing and analytics at the state level. This role, reporting to the Enterprise Architect, involves creating and executing efficient data solutions that are both secure and align with enterprise goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in data governance and interoperability, familiarity with modern database technologies, and the capability to translate business requirements into robust data strategies.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborate with the Office of the State Chief Data Officer on data architecture projects.
  • Develop a comprehensive strategy for enterprise data architecture that aligns with business objectives.
  • Understand agency database solutions to maintain enterprise capabilities.
  • Ensure database implementation meets internal and external regulations.
  • Coordinate with data teams to ensure enterprise functionality.
  • Provide accurate database design reports for management.
  • Oversee data migration to new systems.
  • Monitor data system performance and recommend enhancements.
  • Train staff and offer timely support to agency challenges.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in roles such as Data Scientist or Data Steward.
In-depth knowledge of database structures.
Ability to gather and analyze system requirements.
Proficiency in SQL and other database management systems such as MySQL or MongoDB.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau and R.
Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

A degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
