A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DEPUTY MUNICIPAL COURT MARSHAL

As a Deputy Municipal Court Marshal, your work typically involves ensuring bailiff duties and security building entry screening operations are effective. You serve duly issued subpoenas, summons, and other legal processes as ordered by the Court. Your job is essential to the city, you process arrested persons into the Detention Center and performs necessary tasks for processing. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include summon jurors and take responsibility while they are deliberating or absent. When you aren't assisting others you maintain accurate records on documents served and arrests. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with skills in customer service, public relations, and you find genuine enjoyment in what you do

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DEPUTY MUNICIPAL COURT MARSHAL

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• • Preferred: Master's Degree in related field.
  • Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements
• Requires five (5) years of experience in a Municipal Court function.
• • Preferred: Seven (7) years' experience in related field.
• Two (2) years as a certified peace officer including experience with serving court documents, making arrests and transferring prisoners
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety
• Licensed as a Peace Officer from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) with possessing an Advanced Peace Officer Certification.
• Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense
• Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration.
