Job Title: Humanities Instructor at Lamar Institute of Technology

Job Summary / Basic Function:

The Humanities Instructor at Lamar Institute of Technology is responsible for providing instruction to students enrolled in Humanities/Fine Arts courses. The role involves teaching a comprehensive humanities course that delves into the visual and performing arts, exploring how they convey cultural values and human experiences. In addition to teaching, the individual will participate in advisory committee meetings, workshops, and curriculum development activities, contributing to the growth and excellence of the Institute.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Engage students actively in the learning process
• Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior
• Adhere to institutional policies and procedures
• Teach classes during fall and spring semesters, including online courses
• Provide mentorship to dual credit partners
• Attend professional development sessions
• Stay informed about education trends
• Participate in assessment activities
• Assist in curriculum development
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:This position involves remaining stationary for extended periods, occasional movement within the office, and regular computer operation.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Humanities/Fine Arts or equivalent
• Minimum of two years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency in teaching methodologies
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Effective time management abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

Education/Qualifications:

• Prior experience in higher education
• Industry certifications
• Doctorate degree in a related field

Salary:

Commensurate with experience
