Director Facilities and EHS

Channel Fish Processing is a dynamic and innovative Fish Processing company committed to excellence in all aspects of our operations. As a leader in our field, we prioritize the well-being and safety of our employees and stakeholders. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities & EHS Director to join our team.

Position Overview:

As the Facilities & EHS Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our production facility. You will oversee all aspects of facility management, including security, environmental health and safety, emergency preparedness and working collaboratively with the building maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, safety regulations, and risk assessment, along with excellent leadership and communication skills. Knowledgeable of OSHA regulations and experience working with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Facilities Management:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive facilities management policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the maintenance contractors and repair of buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for facility upgrades, renovations, and repairs.
  • Manage facility budgets and expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness.

2. Safety and Security:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of facilities.
  • Coordinate safety training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Oversee security measures, including access control systems, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems.

3. Environmental Health and Sustainability:

  • Implement environmentally sustainable practices and initiatives within the facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits.
  • Develop waste management and recycling programs to minimize environmental impact.

4. Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, fires, and workplace accidents.
  • Conduct drills and training exercises to ensure readiness for emergencies.
  • Coordinate with local emergency services and agencies as needed.

5. Team Leadership:

  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities management, safety management, or related field.
  • Strong OSHA experience as well as working the regulatory agencies.
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems, codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in facilities management, safety management, or related field (e.g., CFM, CSP, CHMM) is a plus.
  • Experience working in manufacturing is preferred.
