About Our Client:
Our client is a well-established e-commerce company operating a global online marketplace platform. The company has experienced significant growth since its founding, with a substantial workforce spread across multiple locations worldwide.

Role Overview:
They are looking for a Vice President to lead their Tax Team and oversee global corporate tax efforts. The VP of Global Tax will be responsible for managing the company's global tax compliance, planning, structuring, and reporting.

The Tax Team collaborates with stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure the financial health of the organization through accurate and timely tax filings, advising on business decisions, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and international laws and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:


Serve as a strategic advisor to the CFO, leading the global Tax team in all tax planning, compliance, reporting and structuring activities across jurisdictions.

Oversee and review all tax accounting, including complex issues with significant financial impact, quarterly/annual reporting for compliance and regulatory purposes.

Present regular updates and strategic planning to the Audit Committee on tax compliance, reporting and broader organizational implications.
Manage global indirect tax compliance, audits (sales tax, VAT, customs & duties) and income tax reporting functions.
Provide tax guidance, risk management advice and partnership for the company's growth strategies and M&A activities.
Build collaborative relationships across the organization to ensure effective tax team integration and alignment.

Stay current on global tax legislative developments to advise management on potential impacts.

Implement and oversee SOX controls and governance for corporate taxes.

Develop professional growth programs to build expertise within the Tax team.

Partner with external advisors on tax structuring, planning and maintaining optimal global tax posture.

Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in global corporate tax, including public accounting and public company leadership

Degree in accounting or finance; CPA or equivalent license expected

Expertise in US GAAP tax accounting rules and pronouncements

Experience with marketplace companies or retail operations

Mix of public accounting and private company experience a plus

Direct tax compliance experience (e.g. reviewing

returns/provisions)

Excellent communication skills to convey complex tax matters clearly

Location:
This position is remote. West Coast candidates preferred. Travel approximately 20%.

Compensation:
Competitive base salary in the range of $230,000 to $300,000, plus benefits, equity, and discretionary bonuses. Compensation varies based on geography and experience.
