JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The laboratory of Dr. Engeland in the at Penn State seeks a candidate for a full-time (% FTE) combined Research Technologist & Lab Manager position.

Research in Dr. Engeland's lab focuses on understanding how factors such as stress and depression affect health, with a focus on inflammatory measures in blood. Health outcomes of interest include cognitive decline and dementia, preterm birth, wound healing, and inflammation.

Responsibilities:

Perform protein assays (ELISA, multiplex protein analysis, etc.) and associated data cleaning and management. Processing of biological samples (incubating cell cultures, centrifuging, creating aliquots, tube labeling, freezer storage). General lab management/maintenance, shipping/receiving of samples, ordering/receiving lab supplies.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher, plus one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

All candidates must have strong communication and organizational skills, work well in a team, and be able to work carefully, responsibly, and with great attention to detail. A minimum of one-year experience working within a clinical or research laboratory context is required; preference will be given to candidates with prior experience performing ELISAs or cell cultures.
