Performs Vascular/Ultrasound procedures.
Corroborates patient s clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensedpractitioner.
Prepares patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Selects and operates ultrasonic equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results.
Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
Determines ultrasonic frequency and transducers for established protocols.
Exercises precautions in patient applications, respecting the biological effects between ultrasound and tissue.
Evaluates static and dynamic images and recordings of available data for technical quality, assuring proper identification arerecorded.

Vascular TechnologistProvides for physical examination including but not limited to skin characteristics, pulses, auscultation, capillary filling,elevations/dependency changes, and various vascular pressures.

Understands and is capable of Doppler, velocimetry, and duplex imaging.
Ultrasound TechnologistVerifies informed consent for, and assists a licensed practitioner with interventional procedures; needle localizations,aspirations, biopsies, and amniocentesis.
Practices aseptic techniques as necessary.
Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedure.
Initiates basic life support action when necessary.2. Provides patient education.3. Assist in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy.4. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and reports equipment malfunction.5. Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals.6. Participates in the department s quality assessment and improvement plan. May be responsible for specific quality control duties in theassigned area.7. May be responsible for control of inventory, care and control of specific items. May purchase supplies for area of responsibility.8. Maintains knowledge of and observes Universal precautions.9. Understands and applies patient relations skills.10. Collaborates with Centralized Scheduling to maintain a reasonable workload while accommodating the needs of the patient and referringphysician.11. Participates in the education process with the RT program, by mentoring students and assisting them to be competent studentradiographers.12. Utilizes Red Rules in every patient interaction to provide a safe environment for our patients.13. Effectively uses AIDET during every customer interaction.14.

Accurately sends patient data, images and documents to PACS and follows up with the PACS Admin or assistant with problems in atimely manner.15.

May participate in departmental or organizational process improvement activities when needed.16. Performs vital signs i.e. blood pressure, respirations as needed.17. Other job duties as assigned.applying sonic energy and Doppler technology to assist in diagnosis or treatment.

The Vascular Technologistperforms ultrasonic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate vascular anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the requestof a licensed practitioner.

The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in one of the following , abdomen, neurosonology, and/or ophthalmology. Exercises professional judgment while incorporating the Standards of Service andmaintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential forsuccessful completion of the procedure.
Demonstrates proficiency in Ultrasound and/or Vascular Technology testing. This is the level at which the Technologist assumes allresponsibilities for all categories of Ultrasound or Vascular lab testing. The Technologist has satisfactorily completed the orientation and theevaluation period (minimum of 90 days). Satisfactory performance evaluation by the coordinator/manager is required to be promoted to theSenior Diagnostic Medical Sonographer level.

Education and/or ExperienceMinimum Education:
Satisfactory completion of a formal Ultrasound training program or equivalent training to meet board eligibilityrequirements. Maintains CEU in building leadership skills through CRH, AHRA, and other educational opportunities.
Certifications, Licenses, RegistrationsRegistered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification required. The required CEcredits must be maintained in accordance with the accrediting bodies requirements.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports,business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups ofmanagers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometryand trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technicalinstructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and AbilitiesAs a part of continuous quality improvement this position may be required to attend education seminars which are remote to thecampus of Columbus Regional Hospital.

The educational offerings would be relevant to the scope of the position, the employeeeducation, position competency requirements and or current developments within the industry.
