In Farmington Hills, Michigan, the focus is on Powertrain and eDrive technology as well as in Long Beach, where the teams test durability of the latest driver assistant and telematic systems. The Digital Hub in Seattle focusses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Engineer to work alongside our Experts to research, conceptualize and evaluate emerging technologies for automotive applications. In this role, you will learn about the automotive Digital Cockpit and Autonomous Driving domains in collaborations with internal and external partners to ensure possible solutions are meeting Mercedes-Benz requirements. Finally, you will also be a member in a Team working with multiple Silicon Company partners and be at the forefront of innovation as a connector between the Silicon Valley and our R&D units worldwide.
This is an in-person 6-month internship from January to June 2024, working full-time from our Sunnyvale, CA offices. Job Responsibilities:
  • Support R&D activities for the next generation Mercedes-Benz Car Computer including rapid prototype development for technology evaluation and custom proof-of-concepts.
  • Research novel car computer architecture concepts and support concept development.
  • Evaluate technical specifications from software and hardware component suppliers.
  • Work with MBRDNA Engineers in the hands-on testing and evaluation on proof-of-concept systems.
  • Support Lead Engineers in proposals for future architecture concepts.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong hands-on prototyping skills.
  • C Programming for Embedded Systems.
  • Familiar with Linux and shell scripting and on-line Linux Support Groups.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux OS internals, device drivers, compiler / cross compilation.
  • Experience with test tools (oscilloscopes, network and protocol analyzers).
  • Quick learner, excellent analytical & problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation (technical reports) and team working skills.
  • Have basic analog device and circuit knowledge.
  • Knowledge of testing and gathering data.
  • Familiar with schematics, circuit simulation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge with QNX and Hypervisor technology.
  • Electrical Schematic Capture and PCB Layout.
  • General knowledge of Functional Safety for Automotive principles.

Additional Information: The current hourly rate for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $28 (Undergraduate Students)/$32 (Graduate Students)
