As a skilled technical worker at Douglas County, you will be working under the leadership of the Chief Engineer, carrying out various skilled technical tasks that involve significant responsibility and independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair building mechanical systems and components such as HVAC, boilers, ventilation, and fluid systems.
- Install, maintain, and repair HVAC, boilers, water heaters, pumps, generators, compressors, and electrical systems.
- Build effective relationships with clients, supervisors, and various stakeholders to ensure a cooperative work environment.
- Follow relevant policies and regulations to maintain a safe and respectful work environment.
- Provide efficient and responsive service to address maintenance issues.
- Diagnose equipment failures and recommend appropriate actions to supervisors.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Coordinate work orders, prioritize tasks, and oversee contractors as needed.
- Stay updated on equipment technology trends to enhance maintenance practices.
- Ensure regular attendance and timely reporting to work.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with commercial HVAC systems.
- Holding a Third Grade Engineer License.
- Valid driver's license and mode of transportation.
- The role involves physical activities such as walking, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting objects.
- Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, with varying environmental conditions.
- Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment.
- Work hours may vary, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and changing priorities.
