Role Summary:

As a Senior Design Researcher, you will collaborate with integrated design teams, clients, and stakeholders to conduct research on topics related to education, teaching, learning, and training. Your primary focus will be on the Higher Education and K-12 Education sectors, working closely with designers and leaders to drive innovation and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Key Performance Measures:

  • Lead internal research initiatives focusing on K-12, Higher Education, and training environments
  • Collaborate with design leaders to prioritize research activities that add value to education projects
  • Develop project research plans for educational projects in partnership with design teams
  • Establish relationships with external partners to drive research opportunities in key areas

Position Responsibilities:

As a Senior Design Researcher, you will engage in client projects, research endeavors, and collaborative efforts with internal and external partners. Your responsibilities include:

  • Generating thought leadership content
  • Presenting research findings to various audiences
  • Participating in project interviews
  • Keeping abreast of current research tools and literature
  • Managing workload across multiple projects
  • Representing DLR Group's research expertise internally and externally
  • Mentoring team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in research methodologies, social science, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in educational facilities
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Strong communication skills for conveying research concepts
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Understanding of Human Subjects Research practices
  • Up to 25% travel required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional training or PhD in relevant fields
  • Experience in design thinking and evidence-based design
  • Certifications related to design research
  • Publications or engagements in education-related topics
  • Track record in research grant management
