Senior Power Analyst Position

The role of the Senior Power Analyst within our energy trading and analytics team is crucial. You will be tasked with analyzing and predicting electricity market trends, devising trading strategies, and assisting in decision-making processes to optimize our energy portfolio. We are seeking a candidate with a wealth of experience in power market analysis, a profound grasp of market fundamentals, and expertise in data analytics and modeling.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Market Analysis:
    • Monitor and analyze electricity market trends, pricing, and regulatory changes in key regions.
    • Develop and maintain models to forecast electricity prices, demand, and supply conditions.
  • Data Management and Analysis:
    • Collect, process, and analyze large datasets from various sources.
    • Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to extract insights and predict market movements.
  • Trading Support:
    • Collaborate with traders to develop and implement trading strategies based on analysis and forecasts.
    • Provide real-time analytical support during trading sessions to optimize decisions.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess market risks and opportunities.
    • Develop risk mitigation strategies and tools to manage exposure to market volatility.
  • Reporting and Communication:
    • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management.
    • Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure compliance with market rules and regulations.
    • Analyze the impact of regulatory developments on market conditions and trading strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Enhance analytical tools, models, and processes to improve market analysis and trading operations.
    • Stay updated with advancements in energy markets, data analytics, and related technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in power market analysis, energy trading, or related fields.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages: Python, R, SQL, or MATLAB.
    • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a deep understanding of electricity market fundamentals.
    • Experience with statistical analysis, forecasting techniques, and machine learning.
