THE POSITION

If so, we have the position for you Wernersville State Hospital is seeking a hard working, passionate, and caring Social Worker 1 that wants to make a positive difference in the lives of consumers that reside at our facility.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will be responsible for providing a wide range of services and interventions to the consumers who have a primary mental health diagnosis. You will ensure that services are relevant and appropriate to the consumer's age and backgrounds and identify and discuss options for alleviating problems or improving these services while ensuring compliance with the Medicare and Medical Assistance criteria.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • FREE PARKING
  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch., may change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination, and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
