Job Description

The Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of all instrumentation and electrical systems within an industrial facility. This role involves managing a team of I&E technicians, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. The I&E Superintendent plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of the plant's instrumentation and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision: Lead and manage a team of I&E technicians, providing direction, training, and support.Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the I&E team. Planning and Coordination: Develop and implement maintenance schedules and plans for instrumentation and electrical systems.Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of maintenance activities with production schedules.Manage and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion of tasks. Installation and Maintenance: Oversee the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, and controllers.Ensure proper installation and maintenance of electrical systems, including wiring, motors, transformers, and control panels.Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations. Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with instrumentation and electrical systems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.Provide technical expertise and support to resolve complex problems.Ensure timely and effective response to emergency maintenance requests. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of instrumentation and electrical systems.Promote and enforce adherence to safety protocols and procedures. Budget and Resource Management: Manage the I&E maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.Oversee inventory management of spare parts, tools, and equipment.Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure necessary materials and services. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all instrumentation and electrical work, including maintenance logs, calibration reports, and equipment histories.Prepare and submit detailed reports on maintenance activities, issues identified, and actions taken.Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and regulatory requirements. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving maintenance processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives in I&E maintenance operations.Stay informed about advancements in instrumentation and electrical technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, instrumentation, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance within an industrial setting, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or management role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for testing and troubleshooting instrumentation and electrical systems. Strong understanding of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), DCS (Distributed Control Systems), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. Certifications: Relevant certifications in instrumentation or electrical fields (, Certified Instrumentation Technician, Journeyman Electrician) are highly desirable. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, heights, and adverse weather conditions. Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks that involve lifting, standing, and manual dexterity.
