This job description applies to certified personnel as Itinerant Elementary Dance Teacher – Grades TK-5

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Dance or related field desirable
  • Valid California Teaching Credential with English Learner or Bilingual Authorization
  • Reports To: Coordinator, Visual and Performing Arts, Educational ServicesDuties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
    • Design and implement standards-based, inclusive dance curriculum
    • Honor multi-ability and multicultural artists
    • Provide differentiated instruction for all students
    • Facilitate critical thinking and communication skills
    • Collaborate with other dance teachers for content alignment
    • Communicate instructional objectives clearly and regularly
    • Utilize student data for curriculum planning
    • Maintain equipment inventory and manage dance equipment
    • Knowledge of California Arts Standards
    • Ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents
    Ability to:
    • Teach diverse and global-minded dance curriculum
    • Employ inclusive and equity-based practices
    • Support marginalized youth
    • Communicate professionally and demonstrate organizational skills
    • Create a culture of mutual respect and equitable practice
    • Understand and address student academic needs
    • Be supportive of students' social and emotional needs
    • Showcase student work within the school community
    • Facilitate engaging learning opportunities
    Working Conditions:
    • Physical Demands:
    • Employees may sit, walk, stand, lift, carry up to 25 lbs., use computer and a telephone, among others

Work Environment: Employees work indoors and outdoors, with tight deadlines and changing priorities

Insurance Requirement: Travel to various locations throughout the District is needed. A valid California Class C Driver License and motor vehicle insurance are required
