Position Summary:

To utilize a collaborative process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to engage, educate, and promote/influence staff in decisions related to achieving and maintaining optimal health status. The position is responsible for the hiring and orientation process. In addition this position will support the employee training and development programs, workplace safety, and benefits as it relates to wellness.

Essential Functions:
  • Design, implement, maintain and evaluate the employee wellness programs including employee wellness portal related to health insurance and benefits
  • Design and implement various communication techniques to enhance employee engagement in HR and Wellness programs
  • Support Safety Champion to enhance employee safety programs
  • Maintain staff complicity for annual flu vaccines and wellness screenings
  • Coordinate offerings of exercise and fitness programs for staff
  • Enforce safety rules regarding the appropriate use of the Fitness Center and its equipment
  • Continue to seek ways to network and build on professional skills and knowledge to bring the latest wellness information to participants
  • Serve as a liaison to external vendors of events
  • Coordinate on-site wellness events for employees
  • Assist with the maintenance of HR department records ensuring complete accuracy, compliance and confidentiality
  • Coordinate and facilitate pre-employment hiring process and new employee orientation
  • Design, implement, maintain and evaluate employee training programs including the management of the Web-based training system
  • Manage or assist in management of areas of hiring, recruiting, Workers' Compensation, benefits, payroll, employee engagement strategies, and other areas within the department
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Associates degree in business, human resource management, health education, or related field required, but will consider significant experience in a similar role in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in a skilled nursing environment is preferred
  • Must be computer proficient with moderate skills with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of HR theories, principles, and practices
  • Strong knowledge of employment and/or benefit related laws
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks with the ability to shift attention between priorities
  • Willingness to be flexible with work schedule to fit the needs of BrookHaven

  • Pleasant and outgoing personality
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an attention to detail
  • Reliable transportation and attendance a must

  • Demonstrated success in wellness program design, implementation, and evaluation
