Dozer Operator

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
A Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely driving and operating commercial vehicles and equipment for infrastructure construction projects.

Equipment Operators must be able to think critically and use good judgement in order to detect, minimize, and eliminate hazards on construction projects.

Equipment Operators must comply with safety and DOT regulations and are required to complete continuous training.

Principal Responsibilities:
Safely operate GPS enabled Heavy Equipment (Dozer).

Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment, correct and report deficiencies as necessary.

Adhere to company policies and safety procedures when operating equipment.

• Monitor the operation of machinery to ensure safe operation on various grades.

Operate machinery to load and transport materials on job sites as well as onto trucks for transport.

• Operate machinery to spread and level materials such as gravel, sand, and soil on job site.
• Communicate with other team members to coordinate activities.
• Report any accidents or incidents to management.
• Keep track of job site materials and inventory as needed.

Assist with other tasks as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience, seeking highly skilled and experienced operator for GPS enabled dozer.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, pipe crew and trench backfill procedures.
• Valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge:

• Experience operating GPS enabled dozer and other heavy equipment.
• Ability to grade jobsite to shed water and maintain proposed elevations.
• Extensive knowledge of construction site safety.

Adverse working environment Work may be stressful due to continual interaction with others, long hours required and nature of construction environment.

Physical Effort:

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this role including working safely in a noisy construction site with odors present, good vision to ensure safety measures are followed, prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, stretching, stooping, twisting, lying, and reaching.

Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

Local Travel:
Occasional, mostly within the central Iowa region only

Domestic/International Travel:

Varies due to need
