JOB SUMMARY:

Site Leaders are responsible for the maintenance and coordination of high quality program according to the goals and objectives of the camp. They will also responsible for the physical and emotional health and safety of the campers under their supervision. Site leaders will provide direction to counselors as assigned. Site Leasers will work under the supervision of the assistant camp director and camp director. Works closely with camp directors and counselors or develop and implement camp programming.

THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION: Availability June 6th - mid August

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Carry out adult leadership responsibilities in designated day camp program.
  • Responsible for ensuring that campers and staff follow health and safety standards.
  • Keeps weekly inventory of supplies (i.e., first aid, forms, craft supplies, snacks, equipment etc.)
  • Ensures that schedules and activities are implemented.
  • Reviews all PDRMA Incident Reports before turning them in to the directors.
  • Assist directors in covering and scheduling counselor breaks.
  • Tracks weekly program attendance and rosters at the beginning of the week.
  • Assist counselors in camper discipline issues (i.e., code of conduct, behavior action plan, and disciplinary action forms).
  • Keeps daily count of NIFB (Northern Illinois Food Bank) box lunches.
  • Promotes the Zion Park District in a positive manner to the public and co-workers.
  • Be a positive role model by demonstrating good character, integrity, flexibility, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of all-camp activities.
  • Coordinates program activities and program participation in all camp activities.
  • Transports campers to off-site park district facilities (i.e., Hermon Park Community Garden).
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Ability to interact with staff, parents, and children.
  • Knowledge of indoor and outdoor games and ability.
  • Ability to think "on your feet" and assess situations.
  • Awareness of developmental needs and characteristics of children age
Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting upper body.
ENVIROMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Continuous outdoor activity and exposure to weather.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Age: 21
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to take unsolicited initiative.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Documented experience working with school - aged children.
  • Experience and demonstrated sensitivity in working with people of various ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience in a camp setting.
  • Adherence to all Personnel Polices & Procedures for Summer Camp Staff.
  • Exhibits good judgment and risk management assessment skills.
  • Exhibits mature and responsible behavior at all times.
  • Ability to work with and teach children ages 6 to 13.
  • Have and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification
