About the Role

As we continue to grow our New Energy presence and capability, we are seeking an Engineering Manager to join our New Energy team based in Houston. Reporting directly to the Head of our US Gulf Coast Ammonia Development, you will play a key role in leading the engineering team to progress this opportunity. The role is located in our Houston office but may require some travel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for managing the engineering team and overall design leadership.
  • Management and influencing of engineering and licensor contractors to deliver value for Woodside.
  • Approve technical aspects of facility basis of design, key decisions, interfaces, and external scopes.
  • Demonstrate process safety leadership, application of hierarchy of control and inherently safter design.
  • Support senior stakeholder engagement across the business.
  • Seek out and drive value creation optimising for the lowest facility cost of supply.
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expert relationships across the business and externally.
  • Ensure compliance with Company and relevant Industry Standards and Procedures
  • Manage New Technology assessments and implementation.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, lessons learned and collaboration.
Skills & Experience

The successful candidate must be able to operate and lead in a performance-driven dynamic environment. The candidate shall have a good understanding of cultural diversity and be a leader with a strong record of driving performance and fostering solid relationships. Equally, the candidate shall be able to demonstrate the ability to build a team culture based on trust, respect, and teamwork.

  • Minimum 15 years' experience, with a Tertiary qualification in Engineering required (process or mechanical preferred)
  • Previous experience leading a team as an Engineering Manager required.
  • Experience in industrial gas e.g., hydrogen, ammonia or hydrocarbon processing required.
  • Previous experience on ammonia or gas-to-liquids facilities desirable
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, negotiation skills and effective engagement abilities.
  • Keeps up to date with industry knowledge and practices.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with business leaders at a senior level.
  • Works independently and in a team, optimising business outcomes and solving complex problems.
  • Ability to work across non-technical teams & support functions (finance, commercial, power, etc.)
  • Track record in risk-based decision making, high grading key issues and managing resources.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards
