Role Overview:

  • The Director of Camp & Outdoor Education is in charge of leading the team responsible for creating and executing programs within the Camp & Outdoor Education division.
  • Collaborating with the Deputy Chief of Council Programs, they develop a sustainable yearly plan for camp and outdoor education initiatives.
  • The focus is on delivering impactful programs and experiences for girls across all scout levels, ensuring alignment with the curriculum when relevant.
  • Working closely with the Deputy Chief, this role involves overseeing program design, implementation, skill development, and portfolio building.
  • Alignment with council goals and operational efficiency are key aspects of this position, working alongside the camp and program teams.
  • Responsibilities include providing guidance on program design, implementation, teaching, administration, and community engagement.
  • Availability for on-call/on-duty shifts is required, with staff expected to stay on-site during these times.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, along with a minimum of five years' experience in camp staff roles, including two years as a full-time member. CPR and First Aid certification are necessary.
  • Position Requirements: Membership registration with Girl Scouts of the S.A., at least 21 years old, and a background in program management. Knowledge in maintenance, hospitality, youth services, cleaning, and customer service is essential.
  • Experience in facility and hospitality management, budgeting, camp programming, and staff supervision is crucial. Strong project management, volunteer coordination, and community engagement skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, adaptable to flexible schedules including evenings and weekends, and effective communication both written and verbal are essential.
  • Preferred experience in Girl Scout camp management.
