How you contribute:The role of the Psychiatrist involves delivering a wide range of psychiatric services to incarcerated patients, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions.
Moreover, the Psychiatrist offers clinical guidance to mental health and healthcare staff on specific cases, ensuring inmates receive exceptional mental health care.
Overall, this position demands a strong dedication to delivering compassionate care, sound clinical judgment, and effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide psychiatric services to inmate patients, such as evaluations, treatment, and supervision of psychotropic medications, following professional and company protocols
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure consistency in mental health services and documentation
- Supervise psychiatric nurses (if applicable) and offer consultation/training to mental health and medical staff
- Participate in the administration of medications to high-risk inmates and document psychiatric service interactions as required
- Exercise independent medical judgment in diagnosing and treating patients while adhering to approved medication guidelines and notifying appropriate staff of any clinical or administrative concerns
- Education - Doctorate in Psychiatry
- Experience - Background in providing psychiatric services to adults
- Licenses/Certifications - Licensed Physician practicing in the employment state, Board-certified or eligible in Psychiatry, CPR Certified
