Description of the Job:

The Process Engineer position at Austin Powder contributes to the production of anhydrous ammonia, nitric acid, and ammonium nitrate solution. This role involves offering technical knowledge to drive continuous improvements in processes, ensuring safety for employees, environmental protection, and enhancing the facility's efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.



Main Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Deliver daily technical assistance to the Operations, Technical, and Maintenance teams to address process disturbances, equipment challenges, and operational issues for immediate and long-term remedies.
  • Monitor process conditions for any anomalies in parameters or deviations from standard operating procedures.
  • Lead investigations to identify the root causes of process incidents.
  • Assess engineering projects to ensure compliance with plant and industry standards.
  • Contribute to the creation and upkeep of plant procedure training materials, operational protocols, safety standards, and guidelines.
  • Execute engineering designs and documentations for plant enhancement and modification initiatives.
  • Other assigned duties.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Possess experience in engineering, particularly in a chemical manufacturing setting.
  • Prior experience with anhydrous ammonia and nitric acid is advantageous.
  • This role demands disclosure of any prescription medication use that might impact the safe performance of duties.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Understanding of general chemical engineering principles, including the Haber-Bosch and Ostwald processes, heat and mass balance, fluid dynamics, lab analyses, and other engineering basics.
  • Familiarity with process control and safety system design within distributed control systems. Ability to assist in control logic and system adjustments.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting process system challenges.
  • Good grasp of basic IT concepts, such as routers, switches, firewalls, servers, CMMS, database management, and analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control implementation and management is a plus.
