Focused on enhancing the health of our community, Behavioral Health at Presbyterian is dedicated to offering treatment for long-lasting recovery from substance abuse, behavioral health conditions, and psychiatric emergencies. Our comprehensive program caters to adults, children, and adolescents, offering inpatient services, a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic, intensive outpatient treatment, emergency and consultative services, and behavioral medicine services integrated into primary care.

We are currently looking for a licensed Psychiatrist to deliver inpatient PRN hospitalist coverage as required during evenings, weekends, and vacations.

Overview
The Inpatient Hospitalist Psychiatrist manages patients referred for psychiatric inpatient care and transitions care back to the appropriate outpatient provider upon discharge. This role involves overseeing inpatient care and collaborating with nurses, therapists, case managers, care coordinators, consulting and primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals within the facility. The Hospitalist assumes a leadership role in delivering efficient and compassionate care, providing consultation services to Presbyterian emergency departments and medical/surgical floors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall quality of care and clinical outcomes in the assigned facilities
  • Manage resource utilization within the designated facilities
  • Focus on enhancing both patient and provider satisfaction, developing improvement strategies
  • Contribute to financial, clinical, and service quality performance of the hospitalist team
  • Lead daily care team meetings within the facility
  • Participate in psychiatric staff meetings, as well as QI, Peer Review, and Care Management meetings
  • Provide real-time feedback to outpatient providers to optimize patient care and efficiency
  • Assist in maintaining clinical standards for inpatient care
  • Collaborate with Medical Director and fellow psychiatrists on provider staffing
  • Participate in on-call duties as required
  • Mentor new psychiatric hospitalists on service standards
  • Engage in professional development activities through education and training programs
  • Perform other necessary functions
