ASSISTANT TRANSPORTATION MANAGER

SUMMARY:


Under the supervision of the Transportation Manager, the Assistant Transportation Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of the transportation staff and providing operational oversight, day-to-day management, participant, and caregiver interface, and required reporting and compliance mandates (both internal and external) for a specific location or multiple locations.

Supports location interaction on a regular basis with Day Health Center colleagues concerning issues of passenger management, route scheduling, charter (outings) activities, driver issues, safety, and general logistics matters.

Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff.

The position has full supervisory responsibility for recruitment, hiring, retention, performance development, performance management, teammate relations, salary adjustments, and termination of direct reports.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in planning and managing with other team members the scheduling of transportation to and from the center for program participants.
  • Design routes based on participant catchment analysis.
  • Assists in monitoring Transportation Manage routes on daily basis.
  • Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) daily as needed to provide input into daily and monthly planning and operations concerning the transportation of program participants.
  • Directs orientation of new employees in the transportation department; assures that new employees are educated on all transportation policies and procedures and that they receive the necessary experiences to complete the Orientation Guide within the first three months of their employment.
  • Assists in scheduling and facilitating monthly meetings or in-services with all transportation staff and holds staff members accountable to attend meetings and in-services.
  • Develops in-service training programs and ensures all drivers are following PACE wheelchair safety requirements.
  • Completes driver observations on all drivers to ensure compliance to PACE policies and regulations.
  • Ensure that all staff are always observing all traffic laws and regulations and reports any violations.
  • Communicates the necessary information regarding traffic violations
  • Assists staff in reporting and recording safety events
  • Participates in and assists staff in completion of all necessary competency testing regarding the performance of job duties.
  • Maintains established departmental and system policies and procedures and objectives, including but not limited to the following:
o Quality assurance program

o Infection control standards

o Environmental

o Safety

  • Assists in developing and training Lead Drivers.
  • Supervise the loading and unloading of participants at PACE Centers.
  • Works with Supply Chain and RNCM's to ensure our participants have oxygen supplies needed, when transported on our buses.
  • Work with quality compliance departments to ensure PACE is meeting all standards.
  • Monitor weather conditions and coordinate reduced services, when appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as necessary, assigned, or requested by Transportation management

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible work experience in related field.
  • Demonstration of progressive leadership ability is highly desirable.
  • The ability to lift and/or carry 100 pounds or more.
  • Must be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
