About the Role:

  • Position: Full Stack Rails Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Full Stack Rails Engineer


to collaborate closely with the CTO on the development of key applications that cater to our socially conscious customer base.

As a member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with our remote

engineering team to grasp customer requirements and develop impactful, user-oriented solutions by enhancing platforms created by Human Agency. You will be part of a small yet highly skilled

XP team. We heavily rely on

TDD and Pair Programming


for rapid delivery of solutions to our clients, utilizing React on the frontend while also exploring streamlined JS solutions.

Scope + Responsibilities:

  • Develop fully functional features from concept to deployment using TDD and pair programming.
  • Enhance our end-to-end suite of specs employing Capybara, SitePrism, and standard Rails request specs.
  • Establish intricate database relationships following Ruby on Rails best practices.
  • Handle and address concurrency challenges using Sidekiq background jobs.
  • Identify and resolve issues utilizing top-tier logging and APM solutions.
  • Contribute to CI/CD enhancements using Kubernetes, Docker, Buildkite, and Github Actions.
  • Integrate 3rd party APIs using mocks and mock apps.
  • Develop and support open-source libraries that streamline full stack testing.
  • Create high-performing, user-oriented, JavaScript applications employing React and SSR.
  • Develop 3rd party, embedded, JavaScript libraries bundled with Webpack.
  • Contribute to and maintain e2e Cypress specs with stubbing for our 3rd party JavaScript libraries.

Your background + experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in advancing web applications using Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, and RSpec.
  • Proven track record of contributions to and management of production applications.
  • Dedication to TDD principles in software development.
  • Experience in successfully integrating third-party APIs into Ruby on Rails applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of potential exploits and security vulnerabilities in Rails.
  • Passionate about fostering positive societal changes.

Additional skills:

  • Preference for VIM as your primary code editor.
  • Experience working within highly concurrent Ruby applications.
  • Ability to travel for team meetings and planning.
