JOB SUMMARY

The primary role of the Service Writer involves managing repair orders and supporting the Service Manager in maintaining Service Department records.

This position entails being on your feet for the duration of your shift.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee all customer interactions with the Service Department, including repair estimates, service appointments, customer approvals, and addressing inquiries and complaints.
  
• Create and manage work orders and repair orders, providing clear instructions to Service Foremen/Technicians.
  
• Ensure completion of work within promised timeframes, update customers on any changes, and obtain necessary authorizations.
  
• Calculate labor charges, maintain customer relations, and promote additional services.
  
• Keep abreast of competitors' service offerings and maintain service shop literature.
  
• Handle cash transactions for the Service Department, manage files and records, and assist with phone inquiries.
  
• Monitor repair orders, troubleshoot delays, and manage workmen's compensation processes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Service Writer / Service Clerk reports to the Service Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have the ability to understand English instructions, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and have knowledge of heavy truck repair methods. Strong customer service, organizational, and time management skills are essential.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves physical demands such as lifting and various movements, as well as deskwork including computer usage and paperwork completion. Uniform attire is required.
