Job Description

JOB TITLE Logistics Clerk

LOCATION Rocky Mount, North Carolina, 27804

Duration Months Contract (Extendable) - Opportunity for contract-to-hire.

Shift timing - 8 to 4: 30

Dictated pay rate is $19 an hour (Chance for some OT)

Description:
Coordinates the organization's daily logistical operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, and distribution. Organizes warehousing for goods. Reviews inventory to ensure that product adjustments are properly applied. Plans and schedules inbound and outbound shipments to internal or external customers based on needs. Acts as liaison between customers, freight carriers and shipping department. Ensures on-time delivery of goods to customers, by investigating and resolving detention issues.

Assists is cost control by evaluating shipments, consolidating loads, and selecting most cost-efficient method of shipment within Department of Defense guidelines.


Career level support level:
Typically 3- 5 years experience.

Required Skills

Logistics & Government Services - Logistics Support

Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site. Reads work order or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw-hammer, or other hand tools. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.

Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.

Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, wheelbarrow, or other device.

Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.

Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. Position will include receiving and lifting packages. Logistics & Government Services - Logistics Support

Education:
High School Diploma

Desired Skills:
1 year Logistics or Receiving Dock Experience

May need to move heavy packages.
