About the Job Responsibilities:


The Software Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems, such as processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, large data set manipulation, real-time systems, and business management information systems, based on documented requirements.

Work independently or as part of a team. Conduct reviews and testing of software components to ensure alignment with design requirements and document test outcomes. Resolve software issues. Apply suitable software development and design methodologies for the development environment.

Offer specific guidance on the software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, utilization of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions instead of new development, and requirements analysis from system level down to individual software components.


  • Agile software development and delivery
  • Support and maintenance of Monolithic Applications
  • Migration to Microservices Architecture
  • Enhancing User Interface and User Experience workflows
  • Implementing DevSecOps and Automation of CI/CD pipeline
  • Provide assistance for Help Desk and 24X7 system call-in and on-call support/maintenance
  • Responsibilities include Load/Chaos tests, thread tests, What-if Tests, and Actual External Interfaces.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Top Secret SCI with Polygraph clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience; or 2 years of experience with a related Master's degree
  • Proficiency in Java 11+
  • Familiarity with AWS Services (e.g., Lambda's, Step functions, S3, etc.)
  • Experience with document-based stores (e.g., MongoDB, OpenSearch, etc.)
  • Understanding of design concepts and advantages/disadvantages of storing data in document formats
  • Proficiency in Maven/Git
  • Knowledge of Key-Value stores (e.g., Redis, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, etc)
Desired Skills:

  • Python
  • Developing RESTful Services
Security Clearance Statement: To be considered for this position, you must hold a government security clearance and be a US Citizen.

Remote Telework:

The selected employee will work part of their schedule remotely and part at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin offers various alternate work schedules to provide additional flexibility to employees. Options include standard 40 hours over a five-day work week and condensed schedules, allowing more time away from the office, in addition to Paid Time Off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off
