Senior Associate Actuary (Hybrid) at Globe Life

In this role with Globe Life Valuation team, you will focus on developing and maintaining models for valuation and financial reporting for American Income Life's foreign branch operations. This involves collaborating with Appointed Actuaries from branches in Canada and New Zealand. Additionally, you will be engaged in corporate projection tasks related to GAAP guidance and statutory earnings forecasts for capital planning and other corporate purposes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining PolySystems and spreadsheet models for IFRS 17 reporting in Canadian and New Zealand branches as instructed by the Senior Director & Managing Actuary.
  • Collaborating with Life and Health Pricing, Experience Study, and AIL controller teams to facilitate effective financial reporting for AIL branches.
  • Completing quarterly and annual valuation/financial reporting tasks alongside the valuation and controller team.
  • Supporting corporate guidance projection activities related to GAAP and statutory earnings as well as risk-based capital requirements.



Required Skills

  • Solid technical actuarial skills encompassing valuation fundamentals and methods, familiarity with Long Duration Target Improvement (LDTI), and Principle Based Reserving frameworks (PBR).
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting methods and systems, along with experience in interacting with financial reporting accountants.
  • Preference for hands-on experience in IFRS 17 reporting, although this can also be developed on the job.
  • Preferred experience with actuarial modeling systems like PolySystems, GGY Axis, or Prophet.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) is essential.
  • Database (SQL) skills and a plus in programming skills (VB).
  • Capability to thrive in a team-based environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.



Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is a prerequisite.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (A.S.A.) credential is mandatory.
  • Minimum of five years' experience required.
  • Prior work experience in a valuation role is desirable.
