A.

Position Definition & Summary:
Coordinates caseload assigned to youth.

Ensures youth and family receive orientation to the facility, and coordinates release procedures to comply with Department of Juvenile Justice regulations.

Leads the facility treatment team process and aids in developing youth needs assessment and performance plan.

Provides monthly updates on progress to the Department of Juvenile Justice and judicial representatives.

Position Expectations and Essential Functions:
Maintains continuous communication with the Department of Juvenile Justice and support services.

Schedules and organizes treatment team meetings to manage resident case comprehensively through needs assessment, performance plan, and monthly progress updates.

Writes entries on residents' charts about services provided, progress in discharge planning, or other interventions. Conducts psycho-educational/social rehabilitation groups as required and holds individual sessions with youth and family regarding rehabilitative and transition issues. Schedules, attends, and logs court hearings.

Develops performance plan for youth based on treatment team input and updates goals monthly or as needed based on youth's progress.

Ensures timely and accurate communication with judges, Juvenile Probation Officers, and parents regarding orientation, monthly progress updates, and release processes.

Maintains extensive communication with all treatment team members to address youth and parental concerns.

Coordinates all youth release activities including release notification, exit conference coordination, and transition summary development.

Utilizes appropriate counseling techniques; aids residents in identifying and resolving social, psychological, emotional, and/or behavioral issues. Develops treatment plans and performance contracts. Conducts initial admission interviews individually or in a team. Participates in case assessments and progress meetings. Supervises juveniles appropriately and helps maintain order. Prepares and submits case histories, initial interviews, and intake reports. Researches and confirms relevant facts and information for a successful treatment plan.

Builds positive relationships with involved agencies such as social services, juvenile justice, corrections departments, police, courts, probation and parole officers, schools, clinics, hospitals, physicians, lawyers, clergy, employers, and employment agencies.

Manages an assigned caseload, provides necessary individual or group counseling, leads treatment team meetings, and organizes treatment plan services delivery.

Leads treatment planning discussions; assists in identifying residents' weaknesses and strengths and developing individual treatment and education plans.

Conducts group sessions with residents on life skills to achieve specific objectives related to interpersonal interaction, education, employment, and personal adjustment.

Uses appropriate crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques in response to extreme behavior episodes, which may include physically restraining and confining residents.

Participates in escape apprehension and emergency response actions. Provides emergency first-aid in the absence of trained medical staff and arranges immediate follow-up care.

Maintains record and file system with daily log entries reflecting individuals' needs, issues, and progress; prepares clear and concise reports on critical incidents.

Coordinates and establishes consistent practices and guidelines for facility-wide operations. Explains and applies the rules, regulations, and procedures of the Academy. Compiles and maintains necessary records and files. Participates in conferences, training sessions, and meetings related to facility programs and activities. Attends training sessions to enhance skills, attitudes, and knowledge required for optimal performance. Responsible for assembling the treatment team for all youth-related court hearings by identifying appropriate participants. This includes youth status hearings.
Effectively enforces and consistently applies the Positive Performance System (PPS) / Behavior Management System (BMS) programs. Detects, responds to, and prevents youth abuse. Carries out other assigned tasks by supervisor.

Position Requirements:

Education:
Must hold a Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college in counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, special education, or a related human services field and possess two years of experience working with children facing serious emotional disturbances or substance abuse issues

Other Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old.

Appointees must have a valid driver's license specific to the work location only if operating a vehicle is necessary to perform the job duties.

Understanding of human behavior basics and group living challenges. Familiarity with common behavioral and mental health disorders in childhood and adolescence, and appropriate responses. Proficiency in behavioral management approaches including behavior modification principles. Ability in individual and group counseling techniques. Capacity to maintain objectivity and openness to new methods of addressing children's issues. Continual learning and adaptability to new ideas, attitudes, and skills relevant to working with troubled children. Ability to think clearly and act wisely in emergencies or potentially risky situations. Understanding of complex concepts of learning and behavior modification and their application to served clients. Involvement in recreational activities. Proficiency in common game rules and equipment, sports, and leisure activities and their therapeutic uses. Capacity to prepare necessary records and reports. Skill in maintaining essential records, reports, and files. Readiness for escape apprehension and response to emergency situation requirements. Familiarity with basic first aid and emergency medical care. Knowledge of public and private agencies offering treatment and rehabilitation aid. Knowledge of group and individual counseling techniques. Organizational skills and effective work methods development. Ease in dealing with emotionally upset and hostile individuals during interviews. Capability to comprehend and adapt to different cultural and educational frameworks. Ability to relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds, including staff, residents, and families. Aptitude to analyze, understand, interpret, and apply basic laws, rules, and procedures to specific scenarios.

Ability to gather and assess factual information and social relationships of individuals and families, quickly learn essential facts in individual or family situations, evaluate such facts, and take appropriate actions.

Demonstration of sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information and working independently in a team-oriented environment. Ability to move within work buildings; occasional travel needed. Ability to work with various behaviors. Tolerance for verbal and mental challenges while maintaining professionalism. Ability to perform crisis intervention as needed, including intervening in physical altercations. Completion of required CPR, first aid, and self-defense certification training. Successful completion of drug and TB screenings.

Capability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, handle difficult individuals tactfully, supervise others, manage multiple programs, lead small program management teams, and work autonomously.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Talking:
Ability to articulate and exchange ideas verbally during tasks requiring accurate communication of details or important instructions quickly and loudly

Hearing and Vision:

Ability to perceive sounds with minimum 40 dB loss at Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction.

Capacity to receive detailed information through oral communication.

Visual acuity with or without correction that enables employees to complete clerical tasks and observe youth.


Dexterity:

Ability to perform various physical movements and perceive object attributes like size, shape, and temperature.

Frequent wrist, hand, and/or finger movements.

Physical Strength:
Capability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Primarily sedentary work (office work), but may require physical exertion occasionally.

Employees may encounter temperature changes, but are mainly indoors with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.


Language:
Ability to write complex sentences with proper punctuation and communicate effectively using complex sentences with normal word order and tenses

Processing and Reasoning:
