About the Role

The high voltage substation FACTS control engineer is responsible for SCADA, communication, and control engineering activities, including detailed design for transmission projects. This position offers the opportunity to apply knowledge of communication and controls systems in substation and transmission projects.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Perform all SCADA, communication/HMI design, and programming aspects for FACTS and HV substation.
  • Develop Communication System Specification.
  • Develop HMI/RTU and communication System Configuration files.
  • Develop the Schematic Diagram for SCADA and Communications interfaces including RTUs, HMIs, and IEDs.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Test for Communication and Control Panels.
  • Perform Site Acceptance Test for Communication and Control Panels
  • Perform reviews of work performed by others.
  • Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements.
  • Ensure effective regulatory compliance to the NERC CIP.
  • The candidate should be flexible to travel locally and internationally to customer meetings and to project sites. Approximate travel is 20%.

What You Bring

  • 8-10 years or more of experience with a focus on Scada/communications/HMI design for high voltage substations.
  • Experience with SICAM System and Siemens communication devices.
  • Experience with PLC is a plus.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for communication systems.
  • Knowledge of ANSI standards, IEC standards is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience of the application of NERC CIP in HV substations.
  • Experience with various vendor IED equipment typically used in substations, including SEL, Siemens, GE.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
