Nicklaus Children's Hospital, a 307-bed freestanding children's hospital and Level I trauma center, along with Nicklaus Children's Pediatric Specialists, the physician multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children's Health System, has an amazing opportunity available for a Board Certified/Board Eligible physician, who has completed a fellowship in pediatric palliative care medicine.

The Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Nicklaus Children's Hospital specializes in providing comfort and support for children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families. PACT members work closely with inpatient clinical teams to enhance the quality of life by relieving symptoms of serious illness in children and reducing stress for the entire family. This interdisciplinary team consists of palliative care physicians, nurse practitioners, child life specialists, music therapists, social workers, and spiritual leaders. Job Summary

This role primarily involves clinical responsibilities related to diagnosing, treating, and managing pediatric patients within a multidisciplinary environment that includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical scientists, and social workers. The position provides exposure to a diverse range of pediatric patients with varying levels of medical acuity. Additionally, the role includes teaching and supervising medical residents, as well as opportunities to engage in research and publications.

Job Specific Duties
  • Applies understanding of growth and development in patient interactions and treatment.
  • Dedicates time to self-education through activities such as reading journals, obtaining CME credits, attending NCH conferences, etc.
  • Organizes and delivers monthly inservices to address staff and resident developmental needs.
  • Manages follow-up procedures for tests, lab studies, and patient calls.
  • Directly delivers clinical services to patients, which may involve performing and documenting examinations, interpreting relevant patient data, formulating treatment plans, ordering necessary studies and consultations, providing patient/parent education, ensuring follow-up care, conducting screenings, administering medications, as well as performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as required.
  • Provides input for departmental improvement to enhance overall operations.
  • Engages in Performance Improvement initiatives, Research endeavors, and Publishing activities.
  • Participates in teaching and serves as a mentor to medical students and residents.
  • Adheres to assigned call schedules as designated.


Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited medical school
  • MD - Doctor of Medicine Current state medical license in good standing with medical board
  • CPR BLS - American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification must be active and in good standing throughout employment
