Join the Child Life Team at the #1 Children's Hospital in Virginia As a Child Life Assistant, you will collaborate with Child Life Specialists to create a welcoming environment for young patients and their families. This role, reporting to the Manager of Patient and Family Centered Care and Child Life Services, involves:

- **Normalizing** the hospital environment and supporting developmental needs for pediatric patients and families.
- Establishing relationships with team members and families based on family-centered care principles.
- Facilitating planned and impromptu play sessions.
- Encouraging patient and family involvement in activities.
- Providing developmentally appropriate items at bedside and engaging in bedside play.
- Participating in special events planning and managing donations.
- Assessing inventory, restocking supplies, and placing orders as needed.
- Ensuring cleanliness and adherence to infection control standards in playrooms and equipment.
- Documenting participation in Child Life events.
- Training and supervising volunteers.
- Managing day-to-day administrative and operational tasks for the Child Life Team.
- Meeting annual training requirements.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

**Position Compensation Range:** $24.78 Hourly

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

Education: Associate's Degree in child development or related field.
Experience: Previous experience working with children is mandatory.
Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

This job involves standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, and other physical demands. Good communicative, auditory, and visual skills are necessary. Attention to detail, legible writing, and the ability to lift/push/pull weight are essential. Exposure to noise, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases may occur.
