Job Title: Cook Hotel Department: Culinary

Reports to: Executive Chef FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Objective: Preparing delicious culinary dishes for our guests enhancing their positive experience dining with us.

Key Areas of Responsibility: Preparing food items on a daily basis while maintaining a clean, sanitized work area.

Specific Duties:
  • Performs day-to-day activities including cooking, food preparation, putting orders away, and utility functions.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by ensuring that all food safety, food handling, temperature and OSHA standards are met.
  • Opens and closes the kitchen properly while following the opening and closing checklists for kitchen stations. Assist others in opening or closing the kitchen.
  • Sets up the cook line with food, condiments, and garnishments at the start of each shift and restock as needed.
  • Perform food prep as needed by the days' business levels to include chopping, dicing, grilling, carving and assist on plate-up for large functions.
  • Follow kitchen cleaning list to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Functions as a supportive team member during the course of the shift.
  • Effective and positive communication with front of the house staff.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities as may be designated
Qualifications: Adaptable. Customer focused. Get things done attitude. Problem solving skills. Respect for self and others. Position requires regular, reliable attendance.

Education/Experience: Prior 1-2 years of experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen. Basic cooking skills required, braising, steaming, grilling and sauté. Must be able to cook by following recipe cards.

Language Skills: Excellent communication skills verbal/written.

Equipment/Computer Expertise: Knowledge on safely operating commercial kitchen equipment necessary.

Physical Demands: Bending, twisting, standing and walking for longer periods of time. Carrying up to 50 lbs. Grasping, hearing, and reaching. Excellent peripheral vision.

Work Environment: Ability to work in elevated temperatures and safe operation of commercial cooking equipment
