The position of artMOBILE Educator is a non-exempt part-time position responsible for the implementation, delivery, and reporting of education programs, including artMOBILE youth.

Works with the Education Manager and artMOBILE Coordinator (summer only) to develop overall education strategy and contributes to overall organizational strategy.


The artMOBILE Educator's primary responsibility will be to manage and carry out the day-to-day operations of the artMOBILE's community outreach programs, both on-site and off.

They will report directly to the Education Manager and work closely with the artMOBILE staff to align education initiatives.

Specific


Working closely with the Education Manager they will help to implement the artMOBILE program's agenda in education best practices, lifelong learning, and community services, and coordinate with exhibitions to ensure high-quality educational experiences for the community.

The artMOBILE Educator will be responsible for managing a portfolio of art lessons. ArtMOBILE Educator will also be responsible for outreach programs at sites.

Critical to the role is the ability to develop and oversee city-wide partnerships with agencies such as local libraries, public schools, and other educational organizations in the south coast.

Artmobile Educators will work closely with these partners to support a mission of expanding accessibility, advocacy, education and engagement with the arts for the southcoast community.


Responsibilities


artMOBILE Educator is responsible for maintaining and driving one of the iconic artMOBILE vans to select locations on a regular schedule.

They will also be responsible to report to the management team if there are issues with any equipment or the van right away so that the management team can address those issues.

They will be required to keep the artMOBILE clean and organized. This extends to the onsite classroom as they will be building art kits onsite and offsite.

They will be required to engage with various communities and ages of youth in a positive and enthusiastic manner, organize/prepare supplies, and implement carefully developed lesson plans that relate to museum exhibitions and New Bedford's cultural heritage.

Additional responsibilities include working with the Education Programs Manager to develop lessons and assemble art kits. These lessons must be sent to the Education Manager weekly before the implementation of the lesson.

The artMOBILE Educator will take attendance and demographic information recorded at each site, the collection and reporting of participant data, incident reports, drafting and submitting a comprehensive weekly report focused on stories, anecdotal evidence, and participant quotes.

Site visits to program partners to help capture best practices and define the optimal implementation. Oversee and coordinate external research and evaluation to gather data and develop program quality control systems.

Stay up to date on relevant trends in art education for youth.

Job Qualifications


They should have deep skills related to engagement with elderly and youth populations, education and classroom teaching experience, program and curriculum development, process improvement, evaluation, community engagement, and reporting.

■ Two to four years of management experience teaching and developing arts education lessons and in-depth curriculum.

■ Advanced degree in arts education, fine arts, or management desired.

■ Teaching experience and a background in visual arts. Massachusetts licensure is preferred but not required.

■ Must be computer literate including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and database experience preferred.

■ Must be an effective communicator in verbal, electronic, and written forms, and have experience working with diverse groups in the community

■ Must be a minimum of 21 years of age, have a valid drivers' license, and complete Massachusetts Criminal Offender Background check (CORI).
