DORRIS COMPANY– Gear Box Assembler

Our shop atmosphere is fast-paced and the workload is continuous, so applicants must be eager to take direction and catch on quickly. Our products set the industry standard, so attention to detail is a must.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Assemble gear drives by aligning and meshing gears in gearboxes using hand tools.
  • Position and aligns components for assembly, manually or using hoists.
  • Set and verify parts clearances.
  • Remove rough spots, and smooth surfaces to fit, trim, or clean parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies.
  • Inspect, operate, and test completed products to verify functioning and conformance to design specifications.
  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints and specifications manuals, and plan assembly or building operations.
  • Verify conformance of parts to stock lists and blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers
  • Spray/Paint gear box
  • Support Shipping & Receiving as necessary
  • Drive company van to pickup & drop off as necessary
  • Contribute to janitorial & shop maintenance duties
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:
Knowledge

  • Mechanical — Knowledge of gear drive assemblies, and tools, including their designs, assembly, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Skills

  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
  • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
  • Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Equipment Selection — Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job

Abilities

  • Manual Dexterity — The ability to move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
  • Visualization — The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged
  • Written Comprehension — The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
  • Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
  • Static Strength — The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
  • Team Player - work well with others

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • 1 years of assembly experience is preferred

Compensation will be based upon knowledge and experience.
