UPMC West Mifflin Ambulatory Surgery Center is looking for a full-time Surgical Technologist to join their team.
  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday daylight hours (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM).
  • Perks include free parking, no overnights, no weekends, and no on-call responsibilities.


Responsibilities:
  • Assist in transferring patients to the recovery room post-surgery and maintain cleanliness in the operating room.
  • Act as a knowledge source for team members, guide students and new hires.
  • Help in preparing, caring for, and disposing of specimens for lab analysis and dressing application.
  • Participate in committees and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support the surgical team in wearing sterile gowns and gloves.
  • Prepare the operating room before surgeries by arranging instruments, equipment, drapes, and solutions.
  • Collaborate with Clinician to share new insights.
  • Ensure proper labeling and distribution of medications to the surgeon.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment by adhering to safety protocols and aseptic practices.
  • Assist in prepping patients for surgery, including washing, shaving, and preparing incision sites.
  • Support during surgeries by providing instruments, aiding in incision closures, and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Preferred qualifications: 2 years of surgical technician experience in at least 2 specialties.
  • Specialties may include general, orthopedic, vascular, plastic surgery, obstetrics/gynecology, and more.

Licenses, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
  • New graduates must obtain Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist Surgery Certified (TSC) within 6 months of completing the program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33, Act 34, Act 73 FBI Clearance.
