Duties
As a Climate Adaptation Service Scientist at the National Climate Adaptation Science Center, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Serve as a senior team member, integrating information on climate, ecology, landscape conditions, and management options for resource managers.
- Provide advice, interpretation, and training to resource managers on established standards and methods.
- Develop collaborations with federal, state, Tribal, and other natural resource professionals to align projects with priorities and effectively share results.
- Operate a government vehicle as needed.

Qualifications
DEFINITIONS:Undergraduate Education:
A year of undergraduate education is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of college study.
Experience: One year of full-time work is equivalent to 12 months at 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience is pro-rated accordingly.
Graduate Education: A year of graduate education is equivalent to 18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours of graduate-level coursework.
This position is interdisciplinary and may be filled in either of the occupational job series listed. Applicants must meet educational requirements of at least one series, in addition to the Minimum Requirements below.BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
GS-0401--BASIC REQUIREMENT: Applicants must meet criteria A or B to satisfy the basic education requirement for the Biologist series.
A. Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines.
B. Combination of education and experience equivalent to a major as described in A, plus additional experience or education totaling 4 years.
GS-1301--BASIC REQUIREMENT: Applicants must meet criteria A or B to meet the basic education requirement for the Physical Scientist series.
A. Completion of a 4-year course of study in physical science, engineering, or mathematics.
B. Combination of education and experience equivalent to the coursework in A, plus additional experience or education totaling 4 years.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
GS-12: Must have at least one year of professional experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent, providing technical support for climatic change research and adaptation of natural/cultural resources.
GS-13: Requires at least one year of professional experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent, supporting applied research on climatic change and adaptation for natural and cultural resources.
Must meet all qualifying requirements by the closing date of the announcement.Education
