The Financial Analyst position works with local and global controllers to provide business insight to local management to support agile business steering.

This position will analyze variances and trends to provide understanding of current financial performance and the impact to future results.

The person in this position will take a six-week assignment during the first year in the global Controlling Department in Leverkusen, Germany to provide exposure to our global operations and enhance your skills in a dynamic international environment.


Major Tasks & Responsibilities:


Performs analysis on local Legal Entity (LE) financial statement results including income statement and free operating cash flow to confirm forecasted results or deviations from prior periods.

Identify significant, unexpected fluctuations and advise senior leaders of potential future impact.
Prepares, analyzes and explains significant trends and deviations for Covestro LLC's total primary and SG&A related spending.

This could involve interaction with Business Controllers or global Functional Controllers to understand significant deviations identified in their respective areas.

Would include reporting to executive management on impact and potential future impact to financial results.
Participates or leads potential financial related projects throughout the organization. This will primarily be for overarching country projects or on request from the global organization,
Drives continuous improvement in reporting and other controlling/business processes.
Recognizes opportunities for use or optimization of dashboard tools to automatically provide business insight to local executive leadership. Interacts with global controlling reporting and automation hub to align business reporting.
Leads the creation of the local legal entity forecast that is the foundation for liquidity and tax planning. Coordinates local forecast activity with the overall global forecast.

What You Offer

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with a minimum of 1+ years of relevant experience
Desire/ability to complete 6-week global assignment in Leverkusen, Germany during first year

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (MBA) or certification (CPA, CGMA, CMA, etc.)
Experience working with an ERP (SAP) system and Business Warehouse tools
Experience in manufacturing environment
Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI, VBA, SAP Analytics cloud, Python, R or Tableau

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Customer-focused attitude, coupled with the ability to challenge and maintain proper control structures within the organizations supported
Ability to self-direct and to independently analyze and recommend innovative solutions to problems and issues that arise, or to proactively recognize and implement changes before problems occur
Ability to build relationships, and be adaptable
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Advanced technical skills with Excel (Analysis for Office), PowerPoint and large data files
Ability to influence and lead others indirectly (project teams)
Strong leadership, influence, facilitation, and assertiveness
Work independently and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
Ability to challenge the status quo and embrace change
Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
Effectiveness in dealing directly with all levels of management
