Key Role Overview:
Act as a liaison to clarify charges and guide individuals through applications for reduced fees and any billing queries.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Engage with patients to explain financial details both verbally and in writing
  • Collaborate with external entities and aid patients in meeting eligibility criteria
  • Monitor self-pay, pending Medicaid, and partial insurance coverage situations throughout a patient's hospitalization to inform them of their financial obligations
  • Assist patients in communicating with insurance providers and internal departments concerning service coverage and payments
  • Reach out to patients via phone, in-person, and mail regarding outstanding balances and collection matters

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent as a minimum educational requirement
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in billing or insurance; 3 years in collection/finance is preferred
  • Essential attributes include critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively under minimal supervision in high-pressure environments
