• PURPOSE OF JOB:

The responsibilities of this role include assisting RN's and physicians with procedures, routine medical service tasks for patient care, stocking supplies, maintaining endoscopes, and other equipment. Additionally, assisting patients on stretchers, guiding them on storing belongings, changing into gowns, and providing patient nourishments under RN's guidance. Communicating promptly with nursing staff, equipment maintenance, participating in procedures, and efficiently using the hospital information system.

• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provides safe and efficient direct patient care, considering age-specific needs.
• Demonstrates knowledge and technical skills in decontamination and processing of endoscopy equipment, instrument functions, and special handling. Maintains stocked supplies in the Endoscopy Unit and sets up clean scopes in Bin with kits.
• Promotes patient safety through adherence to protocols, policies, procedures, and evidence-based guidelines.
• Actively participates and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals.
• Maintains clinical competency per unit-specific standards.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a nursing assistant/medical technician/PCT program is preferred. Certification as a Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (HSPA - IAHCSMM) or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CBSPD) is required within 18 months of hire.
• Experience: One year of clinical-related experience preferred, with endoscopy or respiratory experience being advantageous.
• Job Knowledge: Requires understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, basic clinical skills, technical skills maintenance, endoscope/equipment upkeep, and proficiency in hospital information and computer systems.
