Job Details:

Soliant Education is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, on-site position in the Johns Island, SC area. This role is for the 2024-2025 school year and involves providing essential interpretation services for a high school student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for a high school student during classes and other school-related activities.
  • Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers.
  • Support the student in accessing educational content and participating fully in the academic environment.
  • Assist with any additional communication needs the student may have, including during extracurricular activities if required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure the student's educational and communication needs are met.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (RID, NIC, or similar) preferred.
  • Proven experience working with high school students in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and subject matter.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality support and advocacy for students with hearing impairments.
