Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, implements ordelegates, plans, and evaluates total nursing care and functions inaccordance with established philosophy, providing and directingpatient care for a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN)relates effectively with other shifts/departments for optimalcontinuity of care. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides clinicalsupervision for entry level nurses and assists in theirdevelopment.

The CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital,established in 1959, was the first children’s hospital inSouth-Central Texas. Located downtown, this 190-plus-bed hospitalserves more than 70,000 children annually from San Antonio, SouthTexas and around the world. The hospital (in partnership withBaylor College of Medicine) is the only academic children’shospital in San Antonio. Our highly specialized services meet theunique medical needs of children, from Pediatric and NeonatalIntensive Care to Children’s Emergency Services, the latesttreatments for deformities of the spine including titanium ribimplants and halo traction, a Heart Center, a specialized asthmaprogram, a highly regarded Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, andgrowing maternal services to include consultation, delivery, andmaternal fetal medicine.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accreditedschool of nursing with active RN Texaslicensure.
  • All newly licensed RNs with lessthan 6 months' experience must participate in the CHRISTUS SantaRosa Residency Program. An individualized learning plan will bedeveloped through completion of the Performance Gap Analysis andcompetency completion will be documented through the program'stracking software.
  • Registered Nurse with validTexas License.
  • BLS Certification required;ACLS certification highly desired/recommended. Current specialtycertification as required.
  • Must have workingknowledge of the nursing process as well as in depth knowledge oftherapeutic, physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, anddevelopmental needs for a select category ofpatients.
  • Good communication skills, bothwritten and verbal.
