Tysons, United States LMI Full time

Overview

LMI has an immediate need for a Technical Product Owner in a fast-paced agile team environment. The person in this role is expected to be flexible and with a range of technical skills and strong understanding of product development and the lifecycle of a product. The person in this role will excel in ambiguous and critical situations while delivering valuable product at-pace.

At LMI, we’re reimagining the path from insight to outcome at The New Speed of Possible™. Combining a legacy of over 60 years of federal expertise with our innovation ecosystem, we minimize time to value and accelerate mission success. We energize the brightest minds with emerging technologies to inspire creative solutioning and push the boundaries of capability. LMI advances the pace of progress, enabling our customers to thrive while adapting to evolving mission needs.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Drive Solutions: Collaborate with DoD end users to understand mission needs and architect RFID integrations that work in the real world – from the front-end application to on-the-ground hardware setups.
  • Lead the Build: Guide your development team through product design, agile sprints, and feature delivery while keeping the product roadmap laser-focused on solving real problems.
  • Be Hands-On Technical: Jump into solutioning discussions with engineers, write user stories that bridge customer needs with technical implementation, and crush technical debt like it owes you money.
  • Connect with Customers: Travel (lightly) to end-user sites to gather insights, validate designs, and make sure what we build actually solves the problem.
  • Own the Backlog: Prioritize like a boss. Turn customer needs into epics, user stories, and tasks, ensuring the team ships impactful features, fast.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work hand-in-hand with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to keep the lines of communication open and the product trajectory sharp.

  • Member of the Agile team responsible for defining Stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the Features or components for the team.
  • Ensures Stories meet the users’ needs and comply with the Definition of Done.
  • Collaborates with Product Manager to ensure that development team priorities align with strategic priorities of the integrated product roadmap. I.e., translate PdM strategies into epics, user stories, and tasks for development.
  • Coordinates with key stakeholders, internal and external to LMI.
  • Identifies and coordinates with key end users or end user representatives.
  • Prepares for and participates in Quarterly product development planning.
  • Builds, edits, and maintains the team backlog during iteration execution.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with engineers to reduce technical debt.
  • Proactively collaborate and plan with development team to avoid development delays.
  • Maintains proper flow of backlog items to user stories, collaborates with the team to detail stories with acceptance criteria and examples in the form of acceptance tests,
  • Works with the team to agree on accepted story completion, establishes capacity allocation to assist technical teams with decision making and sequencing of critical technological infrastructures to host new functionality, and participates in team demos.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US government Secret clearance required; active Secret clearance desired.
  • Bachelor's Degree. Computer Science, or other engineering degree, highly preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or similar.
  • 5 years’ experience in large IT programs.
  • 2+ years of Front-End experience in a hands-on engineer role.
  • Prior military experience or experience in Government contracts
  • 2+ years of experience managing stakeholders, inspiring teams, and advocating for the product.
  • A knack for connecting business and technical dots – you understand the software development lifecycle, and you’re no stranger to hardware.
