POSITIONSUMMARY: The Primary Care Practical Clinician willwork collaboratively with physicians, staff and other health careprofessionals to provide a smooth health care continuum for allpatients within the clinic setting. The clinician is anintegral member of the clinic care team who works to ensure safety,best practice and high quality standards of care aremaintained. The clinician assists with coordinating patientwellness and chronic illness management for the clinic. Theclinician works with the clinic manager to supervise the deliveryof clinical care.
Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of an accredited program in Licensed PracticalNursing
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Licensed by State of New Mexico as anLPN. BLS Certification issued through America HeartAssociation required, or within 2 weeks of hire date.
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of and practical use of goodbusiness English, spelling, arithmetic, practices
- Ability to communicate effectively using written andverbal skills
- Demonstrates effective teachingtechniques, applying adult learning principles
- Demonstrates the ability to coordinate and implementappropriate educational materials for patients and their supportsystem
EXPERIENCE: One yearexperience working as a nurse in a clinical setting.
NATURE OFSUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Director ofPrimary Care Services and Clinic Manager
Inconjunction with clinic leadership:
- Supervises daily activities of medical assistants andPCA’s in primary care clinic setting
- Inconjunction with clinic leadership and educator assists withestablishing and maintaining clinical staff competency
- Ensures provision of uninterrupted clinicalcare
- Provides clinical observations to managerfor annual performance evaluations of clinical staff
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogen:A – Works in a clean, well-lighted, smoke freeenvironment
- Bloodbornepathogen: B – Ifinvolved in clinical contact
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires full range of body motion includinghandling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity andeye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking forextensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carriesitems weighting up to 50 pounds. Requires working understressful conditions or working irregular hours. Frequentexposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances,ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditionscommon to a clinic environment.
